About Pr. Fatoumata
Pr. Fatoumata HANE is a socio-anthropologist, Associate Professor in the Department of Sociology and Coordinator of the Institut Education Famille, Santé et Genre (IESFG) at the Assane Seck University in Ziguinchor. She also held the position of Head of Department from 2014 to 2016. She leaves this position on her appointment as Director of the Institut Supérieur d’Enseignement Professionnel (ISEP) in Bignona until January 2020.
Researcher at UCAD’s IRL 3189 Environnement, Santé et Société, where she heads the Health and Transitions team and represents the IRL on the CNRS Scientific Interest Group on African Studies. She has carried out research on health systems and policies in Africa, on professional reconfigurations in the health sector and on the place of children in paediatric care systems. His research focuses mainly on health systems and policies and health governance. Associate editor of the Revue Française de Santé Publique.
A member of the GDRI on aging in Africa, she has conducted research on aging in Senegal and in the context of migration. Holder of a DIU in Gender Studies, she is also a gender specialist and trainer, particularly in the context of conflict. She is the author of some fifty publications.
Pr Fatoumata Hane is a member of various expert committees in the social sciences, such as ANRS, and civil society organizations, including the Platform of Women for Peace in Casamance.
She is a Knight of the National Order of the Lion of the Republic of Senegal.
Her activist career began at university and continued at the Forum Civil, where she took part in various research projects and activities and set up the Governance Research Laboratory (LAREG). She was an active member of the SAES, where she was the 1st member.ère woman coordinator at Ziguinchor’s Assane Seck University.
She is deeply involved in the fight against sexual and gender-based violence in universities.
